The popularity of zombies (or Z’s) has grown exponentially over the past decade. A plethora of entertaining, funny, and frightening zombie movies have been made during this time, and the zombie has moved from secluded ‘cult’ status to the mainstream.
A Zombie Walk is a gathering of individuals dressed as zombies, usually for a cause. In Regina, that cause is the Regina Food Bank. People arrive at a predetermined location with a donation for the food bank and mill around the area moaning, groaning, and shambling around. Once a signal is given, the group of walking dead travel public sidewalks to a destination. Once at the destination, prizes are often given out for the best costumes, and an event such as a movie, dance contest, or pub crawl takes place.
